On Tuesday, the 24th of March 2020, Superior General of the Jesuits, Father Arturo Sosa sent out a message to the Society and the world at large in which he discussed ways that we can take the opportunity to become closer to God amidst the current worldwide pandemic of ‘COVID-19’.

He begun by pointing out lessons we have learnt  while tackling the virus, which include the fact that we are one humanity and are dependent on each other,  as well as that these trying times have shown us that we can overcome any collective challenge if we consider the common good for all.

He highlighted the selflessness that he is witnessing around the world, where individuals are putting others first and themselves, second. This addresses the second Universal Apostolic Preference which encourages us to walk with the poor and excluded in the society.

As conclusion, Father General thanked Jesuits around the world for their steadfast work and contributions towards the common good of all humankind. He then encouraged all to continue looking for more ways to walk alongside the poor, excluded and vulnerable.
