Child Safeguarding Statement

Jesuit Urumuri Centre: Centre for Research and Social Action believes all children regardless of age, gender, disability or ethnic origin have a right to be protected from all forms of harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation. We are committed to the protection of all children under 18, in line with the Committee of the Rights of the Child, the monitoring body for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has encouraged States to review the age of majority if it is set below 18.

We expect all our personnel to respect the age of the child as any person below 18 years. We will do everything we reasonably can to protect children and prevent harm towards them. It is the responsibility of all our personnel to raise any concerns to the Child Safeguarding Officer (CSO) or Deputy CSO. It is the responsibility of all managers to ensure the delivery of this policy. Any concerns of abuse should be made to the CSO or Deputy CSO. In cases of emergency, where a child appears to be at immediate and serious risk the civil local authorities should be
contacted immediately.
